Save from anywhere.

Articles, YouTube videos, and podcast links all land in the same quiet queue.

On iPhone or iPad

Make a small Shortcut once; afterward, links from Messages, Safari, YouTube, or a podcast app take two taps.

  1. In Shortcuts, tap + and name it Save to Slate.
  2. Open its Details, turn on Show in Share Sheet, and accept URLs and Safari web pages.
  3. Add Get URLs from Input, then Get First Item from List, then URL Encode.
  4. Add a Text action containing https://slatereader.com/share?url= followed by the URL Encoded Text variable.
  5. Add Open URLs using that Text, then tap Done.

Keep Safari signed in to Slate. In any Share Sheet, choose Save to Slate. If it is hidden, use Edit Actions to add it to Favorites.

On Android or ChromeOS

Install Slate from Chrome's menu. The installed app registers itself as a share destination; choose Slate from the system Share Sheet whenever another app gives you a link.

In Chrome

Use the Save to Slate extension. One click confirms Saved without leaving the page; Read in Slate is there only when you want it.

Everywhere else

Paste a link with + inside Slate, forward a newsletter to your private Slate address in Settings, or follow a podcast or YouTube channel under Sources.
